Folkestone beach huts
A great day walking the varied attractions of Folkestone with Rosemary. We parked up on the Warren and walked down to the harbour complex where we had lunch under lowering skies and occasional rain.
A change of plan saw us walking up the Old High Street Creative Quarter to the marvellous Steep Street cafe where we enjoyed a coffee surrounded by hundreds of books of all sorts and topics cheek by jowl by each other on many shelves.
From there we walked up to The Leas, passing by a shop which was the headquarters of a campaign to prevent a massive development of apartments out on the harbour arm. The development led by Sir Roger De Hann (owner of Saga) who has supported Folkestone’s development over recent years has deeply upset the town’s residents.
We walked back along the seafront past these superb beach huts which are part of the Creative Folkestone’s Art Trail: https://www.creativefolkestone.org.uk/folkestoneartworks/.
The weather improved as the day wore on ending in warm sunshine as we sauntered along the Harbour Arm and back to the car.
