Drifting

Our first visit to Sheldon Marsh State Preserve in Huron OH.  Marshland with some forested paths (and many mosquitoes), great egrets, blue herons, huge water lillies and a bit of Lake Erie (above).  Then east to Old Woman Creek State Preserve and National Estaurine Research Reserve, also on the shore of Lake Erie in Huron.  Two beautiful spots.  Next trip we will visit more of Old Woman Creek which covers a larger area and is very diverse.  We enjoyed enormous water lilies, blue herons, great egrets, double-crested cormorants, a huge fish skeleton, and meeting some nice folks.  We drove home on Lake Road, Route 6, all the way to Lakewood, then through downtown Cleveland before returning home.  While the car was moving, I snapped some old architectural features on Public Square, with one shot shown in the extra.  I believe this was a very old lamp and wonder if the housing was made at Rose Ironworks.  This building is just west of the Old Stone Church.

P.S.  Sadly, Lake Erie is never blue, but always a dingy green from algae.  My camera must have distorted the colors.
