Working hard

The blue tits have nested in the bird box in the corner of our garden. They are doing well and the chicks are over a week old now and making lots of noise when mum and dad came back with food.

I think there is a lack of caterpillars but the mayflies are making up for it.

The bird box has been used in the past but never successfully, the local cats, including ours, have bugged the birds and they have left before the eggs hatched. To stop this I fortified the bird box, spikes on the top and at the bottom and a tube on the front to stop them putting their paw in. Seems to have worked!
