Sputnik: a Project of Possibilities

Today I went to see a cultural event at Liverpool's Bluecoat Chambers. It featured Glaswegian singer and disabled performance artist Claire Cunningham, who interacted with a bizarre mechanical "machine" made of cogs, wheels, metal-spoked wings and a few bizarre additions (ship's wheel, typewriter, sheep's skulls etc) in time to music, depicting the story of a young woman who seeks to live away from the Earth, using a machine powered by her body and her spirit.

It was quite beautiful and moving to watch, and interesting to hear her speak to the Culturepool members afterwards.
