Pond with duckweed

Mark cleared the weeds out of the pond a couple of weeks ago.  He also cut back all the plants growing around it.  Then lo and behold!  We had a much bigger pond.  The pond was beautifully clear at first but it was very quickly covered with duckweed.

Tonight we are watching Paddington (for the umpteenth time).  I love this film and Paddington 2.

In extras there is a picture of the flower I blipped yesterday, only this time it is open.  Thank you very much to sallymair who suggested that it might be an Abyssinian gladiolus, I am pretty certain that is what it is.
