Pottering around Penrith

A bit damp but the rain kept away.
We drove up to the Toyota garage at Penrith.  A bit of a way but such lovely scenery it's no hardship.
We stopped at the 'duck pond' service station at Tebay as it has a nice walk for dogs with lovely scenery. Unfortunately  it was in the  news this week  as being voted the best, prettiest service station in the country and it seems everyone and their dog had decided to stop off there. I've never seen it so busy! Worse than a Bank Holiday Monday!

We found what seemed to be the last parking place right up at the top past the hotel.

They are doing some work so one parking area is closed while they install 12 ev charging points.  12 will really not be enough.  There were easily over a 1000 cars parked there It would be a very very long wait if you had to charge up .
Extra shows the view away from the hordes of people and cars

Once at Penrith we dropped off the car and walked into town , which is about 15 minutes walk and goes past some allotments. One person has always planted sunflowers and they were there . A bit soggy,  with a rather bedraggled scarecrow but worth a pic.

We made our way to the Lemon Tree our usual stop off place for lunch. It's an unassuming place but the service is very friendly and the food is excellent. I can highly recommend  the chicken caesar salad.

We then had a stroll round the shops.. ( such a novelty when your own home town is full of closed down shops). As we peered through the windows of very well stocked gift shop  Fletch suddenly dived into the door way of a shop, he almost pulled me over. It was a Dog sweet shop!   Whatever next. As we have to watch very carefully  what he eats we didnt go in but they seemed to be busy . ( extra)

We strolled  back up the garage to collect the car. We had a brief look at some of the cars on sale but I'm happy to keep the one we have, fingers crossed it doesnt let us down.

TPMS replaced  and a pleasant scenic journey back home.
