Empty Slot

Bleary eyed, stiff and sore the seven of us stumbled out into daylight. Some went for breakfast, some couldn’t be bothered but by 9:30 the tents and awnings were down and everything packed away.
We headed off back the way we came, some chat, some periods of silence as we reflected on what we had achieved;
21.6 Miles (33.36Km)
28 Bridges
London’s River Marathon
Completed In 2Hrs 53Min 1Sec
We were all feeling the effects from yesterday but coffee and KFC in Reading perked us up before continuing our way home.
We drove through torrential rain, past an 85 mile traffic jam on the northbound M5 carriageway that tailed off on the A30 before arriving back in Falmouth mid afternoon.
I waited at Ponsharden for the gig to arrive and its towing van with my kit inside. Mrs S arrived with coffee and we chatted in the sunshine as we waited.
Once it arrived we parked it in the empty slot and headed home.
A long hot shower, pizza for dinner and after a few pages of my book I headed up - still tired.
