The nest

This Blue Heron is sitting atop the osprey nest. Our birds have already headed south. No young birds for them this year. So sad. The goose who stole the nest did not have any young either. This winter we plan to remove the nest and just leave the nest box. We have been told the goose will not try to nest there if the sticks are all removed. This is not really a job for people our age but I have insisted to hubby we do it. I have also asked him to build a floating box for the goose tied to a stake in the cove by our pier. Maybe that way they will all stay where they belong and we will have some babies next year!
