This is Catfish, one of the meat specialists at Ryan's Fine Grocer. And those are my two sausages and my smoked gouda.
Indeed, I stopped in today and met up with Catfish and co-owner Brittany for a wee photoshoot. On Saturday, they are carving up their fifteen pound, in-house cured beef slabs, which I am going to be there for, and I wanted to do some recon work on the space in the meantime. But as for today, I got at least 10 or 11 solid shots for the upcoming Series (see The Project below).
Yes, I'd contacted Brittany last week via email and told her about The Project (our most excellent website should be dropping late next week; stayed tuned friends, we are taking it to the next level), and she actually called me back (on the phone!) to talk about the project--incredibly nice and genuinely friendly. She's certainly helped create a fine establishment there, a refined neighborhood grocery store with some amazing lunch and brunch to boot. Everything you could need from scallops to smokes, corned beef to condoms, Mexican Cokes to Mexican quesoes. I'd swung in briefly before, but really had some time to explore today--probably too much time, as I must get back to the French homework soon.
Cheers. Things are moving, things are shaking.
