Autumn sexuality
It has long been known that many birds enjoy an outburst of of sexual display in the Autumn, after the end of the breeding season. In today's photograph a flock of rooks can be seen displaying above the wood in which they will breed in the summer.
As Keats wrote in his poem To Autumn:
"where are the songs of Spring?
Ay, where are they?
think not of them, thou has thy music too, "
