Home again
The photo is of the wingtip of the RyanAir Airbus. I'd never seen a double winglet before and found it rather beautiful.
We got home this afternoon: the flight with Ryanair was delayed on arrival in Bucharest, for some reason, so we were 20 minutes late on departure. Yet we were 20 minutes early at Bristol airport . . . Michael O'Leary must adjust his arrival times to give plenty of leeway to avoid being called late. And O'Leary has said, apparently, that his aircraft are full of people who said "never again"; well never again from this couple. As we took our seats you could see the cost shaving by moving the seats centimetres closer together, removing the pockets from the backs, providing thinner seat cushions and offering scratch cards for charity (oh yes . . .) I'd hate to have been one of O'Leary's pilots; they must have a long and difficult day if they get only a few minutes between landing and departing, stuck up the front as they are these days.
Apart from a little tummy problem in Bulgaria on our last night, we've enjoyed the visit (our second). BG is a very poor country, but the people were friendly. We tried a bit of the language, but it would take more than two weeks in the country to get into any sort of conversation. Some of the scenery was beautiful and the pace of life was delightfully slow. Our last night in the hotel in Arbanasi was a bit of a trial, with a party thumping away under our room until after midnight, but we survived. And posted an appropriate review on Tripadvisor.
And what about this weather? It was warm and beautiful when we left . . .
