Lytham St Annes
We left Blackpool in the pouring rain and drove south through Lytham St Annes, just to have a look. The rain had stopped and I knew there were two tricky geocaches out on a ruined bit of old jetty. The tide was out but coming in. The sand was wet. You can see the ruined bit of jetty in the distance but we decided to give the geocaches a miss this time. The ruin you can see is the old boat jetty that used to be connected to the pier , built in 1891 for the passenger steamers between Liverpool and Blackpool but the shifting sands left the jetty high and dry.
The rain started in earnest ( thank goodness we were not out at the old jetty ) so we went into the amusement arcade to shelter and played on those machines where you put in a coin and try to dislodge a huge pile. ( extra). After all we couldn't leave the area without visiting at least one arcade.
Back up the M6 to home in torrential rain and found lots of flooded roads and fields.
