Today, we left Hill AFB, Utah for the Golden Spike National Monument. This is the place where the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific met while building toward each other in 1869, to complete the transcontinental railroad. At Promontory, Utah, the golden spike was set just in front of this engine. The real one is at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.
