Blown in or out?

I had another photo planned for today. However, I needed a break from a morning of writing paers/emails so took the dogs out for a walk.

This butterfly - a speckled wood? - landed beside me. It stayed settled despite being buffeted by the winds. It made me wonder what butterflies did in high winds. Last night it was blowing a hooley with chairs and pots overturned in the morning. Do butterflies hunker down? Or do they go out and about to get blown where the wind takes them?
