Happy train

Today we took the ‘happy train’ on a circuitous route to the mountain village of Vrachasi. It is where our driver lives and he took us to see his old school! The population has decreased from 1,500 to now only 200 as people moved for economic reasons to the coast.

Outstanding (in comparison to most of the town) in terms of maintenance on the outside was the local church and breathtaking on the inside (see extra). George told us that now only 15 people a week attend on a Sunday but it is very popular for funerals when over 1,000 people may attend.
