The Great River

The River Danube, one of the great rivers, at least.  I suppose that it's not huge here in Ruse, on Bulgaria's border with Romania, but it's a well known river and one that has provided the path for a lot of trade over the centuries/millennia.  And it was on the bank of the Danube that my brother spent around six months over the winter of 2014/15, just next to where those vessels are moored near the photo's background – in this blip.

These are happier times, though, and the city is quite a decent place to visit.
