Rainbow panorama
I saw the rainbow from the balcony, and rushed out to the road for a clearer view. Already the second arc was fading; I ran back in to wheel J out, uncertain if it was still worth it, and was so glad I did. She was delighted, said she hadn't seen a rainbow for ages, and we watched together as soft clouds gradually descended to obscure its central section - a lovely few minutes. I found that the widest angle on my little compact camera would not frame the whole arc, and remembered having seen a panoramic function somewhere in the menu; it proved easy to use and surprisingly successful.
It was a full and useful day: a good yoga class, with back bends to leave to me energised and purposeful for lots of little jobs. A return visit from the Motomed representative brought alternative hand grips and a smaller size "mitten" to see if they might help J's hands to stay on the handles of the specialist exercise cycle. They were definitely an improvement, though we remain uncertain whether the arm training function works well enough to be worth retaining when our trial period ends in about a month. The leg training is working very well for her and she's feeling positive about it, so we'll certainly be continuing that, but we need to decide whether we will swap the current arm and leg training machine for (somewhat less expensive) one for just her legs.
Meanwhile, P has been picking apples. He has arranged for much of our harvest to be pressed on Saturday, and there are a lot to pick. I prepared and stewed a pressure cooker full of damaged ones, which can't go to the press, to freeze as stewed spiced apple. There will be lots more, and I'm starting to realise that we will struggle to make space in the freezers to accommodate apple juice as well as tubs of cooked fruit - a good problem to have, but I'm not yet sure what the solution will be.
