Hill of Tarvit Working Day
After yesterday’s festivities Pat and I were back ‘on duty’ as guides.
Highlight of the day was a visit by some of the Collection’s Staff who were demonstrating restoration techniques on various wood furniture in the collection. They certainly made a remarkable difference to the table in the Great Hall.
Mildly surprised to hear Claudia refer to our ‘farting ducks’ which partner the ‘pooping dog’.
The pooping dog features on the ‘hunting’ tapestry and is a great favourite of children.
The ‘farting ducks’ are actually two incense burners. one of which is today’s Blipfoto.
The incense vapours appear from under the ducks tail feathers.
I am all for burning incense. They are bronze, after all. But apparently that is taboo.
I imagine that Frederick Sharp, who put together the collection and built his house around it would have put the ducks to work at every opportunity.
