British Camp

A lovely day was forecast for the first day of autumn, so after an early flu jab we took ourselves over to the Malverns to have a walk down at the southern end of the range. We walked up to British camp. This is an Iron Age fort the origins  of which date back to 700 BC.
( I did overhear a man talking very knowledgeably about the Romans to his group of friends, but no, it was built way before them)
The defensive banks and ditches can be clearly seen in concentric circles around the hill. It makes a fantastic  look out point with views in all directions over many miles. It’s said that you can see twelve counties from the top.

Extra, there’s a delightfully quirky little cafe called Ruffz, on the way back. We were just in time for a cup of tea, before it closed. The table and chairs have seen better days and the faded paint on the barn caught my eye.
