Construction is well underway of the stands for this year's Military Tattoo on Edinburgh Castle Esplanade.

It used to take 2-3 weeks to assemble the seating and a similar length of time to dismantle it. However a local resident won a landmark legal case several years ago when she complained about the noise. Now the whole operation is done very slowly and quietly over several months.

The whole construction was originally designed and used for the equestrian events at the Munich Olympics in 1972.
