Walking amongst history

Another day for a walk in very mixed weather, around Gairloch and Badachro.  The area has put a lot of effort in to creating a Wartime Trail  with information boards and other effects.  Loch Ewe played a pivotal role in World War II as a base for the Arctic convoys which provided essential supplies to war-torn Russia along a route described by Winston Churchill as 'the worst journey in the world'.  The other extra shows Andy at the memorial to the crew and passengers of a bomber lost while returning to the USA on June 13th 1945 which crashed with the loss of all on board.
