Hatches batoned down

We are in the caravan in Borrowdale and it seems like a different season to yesterday.

Mum is back in hospital so we set off early this morning to go and help dad and see mum. She didn’t wake up at all during visiting but dad is pleased to have seen us.

Borrowdale to South Shields is a very different journey to usual and this morning we did Penrith, Barnard Castle - no time for an eye test- bishop Auckland, Raby Castle Spennymoor which made for a lovely change. We came back via Scotch Corner and straight along the A66. The wind was horrendous across there, and got worse as we got nearer to Keswick. The biblical rain started about Keswick and driving up the side of the lake was not pleasant.

We are now tucked up in the caravan listening to the rain on the roof, all warm and cosy. I have had a little restorative cognac in my coffee- a reward for a difficult drive.

Forecast better for tomorrow so hopefully will get out and about.
