Sharp-shinned Hawk

He popped out of the bushes quite close to me, looking for a meal. They feed mostly on birds, often near birdfeeders. 
We had a grey day, with some much needed rain; more to be expected in the coming days. I took out sour starter from the freezer; fixing to bake bread!
