Anastasis

All these years living in Istanbul and I have never been to the Edirnekapi area in Istanbul to visit the Chora Byzantine Church Museum famous for its wonderful C14th mosaics and frescoes nor eaten a delicious Ottoman repast of C15th - C19th recipes at the highly regarded restaurant called Asitane, next door to the church - but now I have !

Thoroughly enjoyed myself today in the companionable company of two colleagues (plus eighteen students), nourished by the Ottoman vittles, the beauty of the absolutely stunning C14th mosaics and frescoes in this altogether beautiful place and of course the warmth of another wonderful hot, sunny day.
