Mosaic

Went to see the Roman mosaic that’s been uncovered in Olney..
It’s not a major find, but interesting nonetheless. It has a geometric pattern and was probably done towards the end of the Roman Occupation. It was preserved by the amount of soil that was on top of it. Fragments of pottery, animal bones, shells and other fragments were found. It’s going to be covered and hopefully preserved under what will become an Aldi Supermarket. Oxford Archaeology have been supervising the survey and will produce a report and website showing all their findings. They are liaising with both Cowper Museum and Milton Keynes Museum, the latter who will probably be involved with the display of the found items.
