Crossing the Dornoch Firth

I've travelled up to Shetland many, many times - about half by plane, and about half by car and ferry. Every time (before this time) I've driven up to Aberdeen and got the ferry from there to Lerwick.

This time I decided to try the alternate route - driving up to the north of Scotland and taking the opportunity to have a look at Orkney.

From Aviemore I drove on up the A9 past Tain (where my Dad's father was born), and across the Cromarty and Dornoch Firths.

The sun was, of course, shining brightly. Also drove across the Caithness Flow Country, and visiting the RSPB Reserve at Forsinard. Well worth a visit.
