Visiting Vasa

Today, instead of feeling sorry for myself in the hotel room, I set off to visit the Vasamuseet. This is the museum for the Vasa, which, much like the Mary Rose, sank on its maiden voyage, in 1628. In the Vasa’s case, after only 17 minutes. She was rediscovered in 1959 and raised in 1961. Thousands of artefacts were recovered, including cordage, sails, and personal possessions, many of which are on display. Well worth a visit.
