Spotting

Early start for a change. We drove to Portree to meet up with Andy from Skye Wildlife Tours. We piled into the minibus with two couples and we set off around the island with lots of stops to try and spot various animals and birds. First stop we saw a golden eagle, later seals (not only on rocks but also, rather thrillingly, leaping from the water as they swam and playing in the loch), an otter, red deer grazing at the edge of woodland, and more golden eagles as well as various other birds (curlews, various ducks, cormorants, shags, buzzards, herons). Andy was disappointed we didn’t see sea eagles but we were all happy with what we saw. Although the weather forecast last night had suggested heavy rain all day it was just high cloud and dry til the last half hour…ideal really for being able to see the wildlife against the water and sky.
On the way home T sent photos of his face after being stung in the face-awful! It got worse as the evening went on despite taking antihistamines and the photos got more alarming (extra) but I doubt he’ll go to seek help despite my urging!
Home for a lovely deep warm bath then we went to Edinbane lodge for dinner. Absolutely stunning-every course in the tasting menu was fabulous, and all were perfectly sized portions on gorgeous unusual plates. Just exquisite!
Home and straight to bed. We’re having a great break
