Welcome
To the city of Ekofisk, one of the most complex offshore complexes in the North Sea. Oil was discovered her in the late sixties and in 1969 the first drilling and exploration took place. Since then it became bigger and bigger, resulting in an enormous complex with 18 platforms producing 300.000 barrel of oil a day. Twenty years ago the whole complex was lifted hydraulically six meters to compensate for subsidence. With 80.000 tons lifted, it is still the largest jack-up operation in the world. The end is coming closer now for major parts of this complex. We are here to begin with the removal of the older platforms. The complete removal of Ekofisk will take years and years.
