Day Two

Sue tested positive for Covid this evening. Her son will pick up an antiviral for her in the morning when the pharmacy opens and he'll leave it outside her door. She's very sick. It will be a hard night. I have no words for how I feel.

Before Sue tested this evening, I had planned a blip about this old piano, built the year I was born. Chipped, worn, weathered but still resonant, still capable of harmony. I touch the keys with my slow, nine-fingered hands and arthritic thumbs. My Covid-ridden body. Then something like music happens.
