beewolf

A new one to me, a European beewolf (Philanthus triangulum) busy digging its burrow just across the road from the flat between the cobbles. The females hunt honeybees which they immobilise with their sting and drag into their burrows to feed their larvae.

Busy day working on the RSE paper with a long zoom meeting discussing the outcome of a recent workshop. The first paper is slowly getting there.  As is the flat, the builders are now gone. We can see the end of the scraping.  Beer and pizza for dinner.
