En Route
Heading down to the South Eastern corner of France for a few days. Overnight, we had a stopover in Troyes which is a beautiful town to explore. Our hotel had a long history as a coaching in and is beautifully decorated with an equine theme. Although you may think that I went for that because I'm an enthusiastic horse lover, L made the booking and I had no idea until we got there!
Dinner in a local (if rather upmarket - L's doing again!) restaurant was as French as can be and as pretty as a picture with a slightly less scary bill than expected.
Why then, no gastro porn or horsey photo?
I loved the old (mainly 16th - 18th Century) buildings, but it was this modern piece of public art that stole the show for me. Beautifully executed with humour and lacking the inevitable, unimaginative graffiti that we would find in the UK, this summed up my feeling of happiness and fun experienced on this brief visit
