Yesterday’s route

We’re a far cry from this shot tonight. Back in Kent after a long journey which felt like we were never going to reach home.

Breakfast at Lingholm at 9.00am and a step around their fabulous walled garden inhabited by Peter Rabbit. We then traversed the Lake District to visit friend in Grange, eventually setting off from our fuel stop in Kendal at 2.00pm. The satnav said home by 7.00pm. We knew that wouldn’t be true as we were stopping for some food along the way.

We arrived home at 9.20pm, with route changing and arrival time slipping back owing to a multitude of traffic issues. Any road, we arrived home safely which is all that we can ask for. There were more than the usual quota of idiots on the motorways today, abrupt lane changing and undertaking being frequent.

The service stations were an eye opener if ever we needed it with everyone except us eating fast food of one brand or another and generally leaving their detritus strewn everywhere. At Cobham services there was a huge collection of souped-up cars, their drivers and followers on congregating noisily in the carpark and causing yet another queue to get in.

Todays blip shows yesterday’s route, following the clear green path to the left of the shot over Barrow then on to Causey Pike which is the high, knobbly peak on the skyline and back along Overside and down the green path to the right. We’ve seen this view many times from this apartment and didn’t really know what we were looking at. Now we know.

Thank you once again for your visits, stars and comment.
