Pumpkins Galore
We went to a farm market this morning. Family run and farmed for three generations. The latest generation is making home made ice cream too and when we asked if there was anywhere else we could buy it, they told us about a beef and pork farm on our way home. Northwest Land and Cattle was a happening place today, the first weekend of pumpkin fest. It was quite the operation and we did buy a selection of homegrown things like burgers, stir fry beef and stew meat as well as some Apple cinnamon sausage. Meat that will probably last us a month or more but hopefully the animals were treated “respectfully and raised humanely “.
Later we went to the local art museum for a talk and music honoring a UNCW Creative Writing professor, Philip Gerard, author of many books, songwriter and a genuinely empathic individual who passed away almost a year ago.
