Where is all the grass!

Down the field in front of my house with my girls this morning when I looked around and noticed there are thousands of buttercups and forgetmenots and hardly any grass! I have noticed this seems to be a common sight in Clackmannanshire at the moment. I would love to know what's causing. it does any one have any ideas why there is more buttercups than grass?
