Euonymus

This spindle bush was shining brightly in the afternoon sunshine as we walked on footpaths near Sizergh.  It's such an usual native plant, I love it's bright pink fruits which encase orange seeds.  Apparently it's wood is not particularly durable but has been used to make spindles (of course) but also knitting needles, skewers and toothpicks.
