Bombo Bombo
Kiama has coastal walks north and south of the blowhole. We took the northern route, all the way to Minnamurra (which conveniently had a train station for the return leg).
Amazing scenery, I could have spent the whole day photographing Bombo Headland, once a "blue metal" (basalt) quarry, whose materials were popular in the construction of Sydney (as well as the beautiful old Kiama school which formed part of our hotel complex). Originally called Bumbo Quarry after the Aboriginal word for the place, its name was changed to Bombo due to religious objections (Bumbo sounded rude).
That was the highlight of the walk - it was all beautiful, I've included as extras some more pictures of Bombo Headland, of Cathedral Rock (with heron), Minnamurra beach.
The blowhole (last extra) was more magnificent when we timed our visit closer to high tide, with a magnificent stormy backdrop.
