Sweet Chestnut

In most of my wanderings so far this season I have spotted masses of sweet chestnut pods on the ground in either a fully closed or fully open (and empty) state - no doubt the squirrels were enjoying the feast (extra).  However, today I found a young tree still laden with them, some with the nuts just peeping out.
