Scary

The morning started off calm with a beautiful sunrise.  After breakfast MrMacD put the handles on the sideboard and we managed to move it into the dining/living area.  Seeing it fully assembled and with the handles on we realised that it needs some more of the dark paint on one of the two doors, so that will be done in a day or two.

My brother and sister-in-law arrived around 11:30 on their way back to Christchurch from Tarras.  It was their first visit to our new home and they were very impressed.  We showed them around the house and garden then had lunch before they set off on the three-hour journey to Christchurch.  As they left the wind was starting to pick up.

We decided to sort out the garage as it’s been somewhat neglected since we arrived.  MrMacD brought in the shelves and rods that he’d dismantled in what is to be the garden loo, and started re-assembling it. I tidied up my painting gear, then swept up the dust and leaves blown in by the wind.  As we worked the wind really ramped up and became gale force and extremely scary.  MrMacD finished re-assembling the shelving unit and we decided it was time to close up the garage and go indoors.  The wind changed from north-west to south-west and the temperature dropped.  It’s still very windy now as we’re about to go to bed.  Hope it’s stopped by morning, as they’re scheduled to start the installation of our solar panels tomorrow.

The blip - calm at the start of the day; anything but calm at the end of the day - a small rhododendron being pulled out of the ground by the force of the wind.
