Transmission Tower

This is where all the power for all the cords in the house comes from. I know, it's a stretch, but on the way to Kathy's studio, we pass a whole power station which has always fascinated me as a photographic challenge. This lone tower caught my eye because it also seems to be doubling as a cell tower which somehow powers our cordless phones. I'm out of my depth as to how this works., but well aware of the fact that my mobile phone is now my bank, my communications device, my address book and calendar, my map and navigation device, my camera and photo storage and...well...my brain.

It's a long drive to Kathy's with limited options for how to get across town. Lately, two of the three choices have had sporadic delays and closures due to a massive landscaping project on one and a complicated intersection and road resurfacing project on the other. Even the traffic app doesn't always know which projects are active at any given time so planning a route is something of a crapshoot. This morning the landscaping project, which has been going on for months, and the intersection project were both in full swing and we got stuck in both of them. The transmission tower was next to one of the places where we waited endlessly for it to be our turn to use the one way road so I had plenty of time to take a photo. It's not quite the artistic one I envisioned, but might as well take advantage of the traffic stall to do something useful.

To further test John's patience I dragged him along to the quilter's to drop off the quilt top for our bed. This was a carefully orchestrated plan to save a separate trip across town but the best laid plans and all that....the backing that I had hastily put together yesterday wasn't quite big enough....extra fabric is needed so that she can attach the three layers (top, batting and backing) to her long arm quilter...I have a feeling I will have to take it back to her myself if I want to get it there before next week.

It's getting cold at night and we're ready for the extra layer....
