Routin Brig

I left my car at the Routin Brig after work today because of the contractors working on our drive. They have made good progress already, and have laid drainage pipes under the road to channel floodwaters away from the roadway and into the burn. They have also made a start on levelling the roadway which was becoming U-shaped.

Behind Routin bridge is this memorial left by a man who scattered the ashes of his wife into the water. He has written a couple of poems and pinned them to the tree. It looks as though he left these flowers earlier today as they are still very fresh. The bridge is a special place for lots of folk and there are several memorials here. I don't like it when people drill into the trees though to put up plaques.

It was good to be back at the cafe - we had lots of bookings today, including 12 children and 6 adults from Locharbriggs Nursery who came in for their lunch. The children were better behaved than some of the adults who come in :-)

Afterwards, I visited Joe - it was nice to see him again after being away. Then it was home to make the tea, which was lentil pasta with roasted peppers in a tomato sauce. Nice and easy for a work day :-)
