Little Owl #60
A morning out at RSPB Burton Mere which proved to be quite frustrating. There was a sparrowhawk on the hunt that kept flushing the birds, so we arrived to find NOT ONE BIRD on the main scrape, which I have never seen before. The frustration continued as we passed along through the hides with very little to see, until the final Border Hide, but this was packed with people, most who just sat there chatting and eating sandwiches as there wasn't a great deal to see. After 15 minutes of standing around waiting for someone to leave(which they didn't), we left and went over to Burton Marsh instead. On the way back to the car we came upon Alan Davies(who took us out in North Wales earlier in the year) with a group of birders and Iolo Williams (of Springwatch) - best thing we saw all day!!!
That's a lie - we did see the little owl on the cliffs when we went to Burton Marsh - he wasn't doing much, just snoozing in the sunshine mainly apart from when he had a yawn and then swapped legs to stand on (extra) - lovely to see, even distantly, and our first one this year :)
I've also put up two backblips if you have time, and commenting might be sparse as my evenings this week are being taken up by gymnastics I'm afraid.
