Singing

Last night we decided that we would head out for breakfast. PY had an idea for a cafe to visit but, somehow, we ended up walking further along the seafront to the Dell Cafe on the way towards Seaview.  The place was reasonably busy when we arrived but we managed to get a table and enjoyed a lovely vegetarian breakfast.  Lots of people coming and going which is nice to see. The Island is gearing-up for the tourist season. I expect the next time we are here it will be much busier.

By 12:15pm we were read to head for the Pier to catch the FastCat back to Portsmouth. The rugby players that we saw on yesterday’s train were queuing for the boat but were considerably more subdued, dare I say hungover? Conveniently, the train was direct to Surbiton so we only had one change and were home by about 3:15pm. This gave us an afternoon of pottering around the house before we headed out to our favourite music venue, The Crazy Coqs. This week it was, “The West End Sings Shania Twain and the Queens of Country Music.”

The showed opened with Dolly Parton’s 9-5 and included songs from Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood as well a several from Shania Twain.

The audience of this one was quite interesting with sections who clearly were there for Dolly, Tammy and Patsy with other there for the more contemporary country songs.  As always, a throughly recommended event.
