A heartfelt evening

This sculpture, entitled Silver Hart, is by David Mach and is made from metal coat hangers. It is at King's Place in Central London and overlooks the bar that serves those attending the concerts in the two performance halls. I first saw David Mach's work when I worked at the Royal Courts of Justice. He has another of his coat hanger sculptures there - that one is of a celebrated, former Lord Chief Justice, Lord Woolf. I was told it was a very good likeness. I think though that a more traditional medium will be appropriate when the time comes to memorialise Dame Sue Carr, who was sworn in this week as the first Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales. The swearing-in was livestreamed and can be found online - well worth watching to witness such an historic occasion.  I was at King's Place this evening with my pal, Ron, to see Chris Wood, who is a brilliant singer songwriter. He comes from Faversham, Kent and is a wry and heartfelt observer of what he aptly described as our fractured society. But there was a lot of humour in his engagement with the audience. His songs carry such resonance and his version of Jerusalem is a true lament for what was once a green and pleasant land. Check it out on YouTube.
