New Seeds
Robert our manager of farms looks like a happy man.
Harisen had just delivered 3000 packs of open pollinated seeds. They had just arrived all the way from Seed programmes, Lubbock, Texas, USA.
The varieties are:Beet, Cabbage, Eggplant, Galia melon, Kale, Mustard, Okra, Onion yellow, Onion Red, Hot Pepper, Bell Pepper, Spinach, Swiss Chard, Tomato and Watermelon.
We will now distribute them to our women's urban gardens, school gardens, preschool gardens and our model farms, at suitable times and in appropriate amounts.
Considering that we work with about 200 women in self help groups and a similar amount in gardens and model farms, it' easy to see how far they will go.
The idea is to grow and save seeds for next season.
I can imagine lots of happy faces in the next few weeks.
