Bouquet.
My train back to Aberdeen was booked for 12pm today, so I had time for one last game of Scrabble with Mum over coffee this morning - and I beat her! The scores from all games are kept neatly in a small notebook. There are months' worth of games in there, and every time something out of the ordinary happens there is a note made next to the scores...: "Game abandoned - dog walked across the board."... "John admits defeat after Chris scored 79 points on one word."..."Enthusiasm lost - note that John was winning before game abandoned". Today's note (written by Mum against my column) - "she showed no mercy". I would feel guilty, except that I hardly ever claim a win against her!
Dad took me to the train station in York - always appreciated, the train from Harrogate seems to take much longer than it should. The journey back was actually surprisingly pleasant. The weather was horrible, and the wind kept buffeting the train, but I got to sit on my own, face forwards, and had unlimited free internet for the whole journey (I think I was stealing it from First Class, which was the adjoining carriage).
When I got back to Aberdeen, M picked me up from the station and took me to our Norwegian class. Neither of us felt like being lectured for two hours, but actually it was a very easy class - just vocab (no grammar) and then a card game to practice numbers. There was even cake because it was one of the students' birthdays!
M had made curry for when we got home which was sooo welcome. Nice to see my flowers opening up, too! M should have been away offshore, but the job was cancelled, which means he gets to spend the weekend at home. He must be delighted - I know I am.
Norwegian phrase of the day: jeg vil gjerne reise til Norge i sommer :o)
