Freedom!

A beautiful sunny day for my first Friday off work. The tide was favourable so we went to Hayling Island for our morning dog walk. Merlin had a wonderful time galloping along on the sand and through the water. The beach was considerably emptier than when we usually go - at a weekend.

Afterwards we treated ourselves to lunch at the Northney Farm shop cafe. They’ve a large grassy outdoor area for eating and are always welcoming to Merlin. As we sat in the warm sunshine near the sea, it really did feel like we were continuing with a little bit of the ambiance of our holiday in France.

This afternoon I’ve been cutting down sunflowers at the allotment. The birds have eaten many of the seeds already but I cut off and left those flower heads which still had plenty of seeds in them so the goldfinches and yellow hammers can feed on them.

Today has been very lovely indeed.
