Wisley

Another lovely day. We have now moved north a little into Surrey and despite dire warnings about the traffic congestion at the junction we would require to get to RHS Wisley from our friends last night, and this had also been mentioned by blipper Just Sally, we had minimal delay.

Arriving in time for coffee after which,  on recommendation, we first went to look around the Old Laboratory, now a museum housed in the Grade II listed building that became The Wisley Horticultural School in 1916.
An interesting history and a presentation about weeds and our attitude to them.

As you can see from the blip there was still plenty of colour. The arch is covered with Wisteria which I’m sure would have looked lovely in Spring but these Cleome (not heard of them before) looked fantastic around the fountain at the junction of the two arches.

We spent a good 4 hours here enjoying the varied landscape, the alpine houses and the Glasshouse with a cuppa and bite to eat at the Glasshouse cafe. A lovely place which I’m glad we have managed to visit at last.

We wondered how we would manage the traffic when leaving but again as we were staying on the A3 we were soon moving away from the queues onto the M25.

It seemed remarkably easy to get to our hotel and parking in Surbiton (well I wasn’t driving!) we just have to figure out if we incurred ULEZ charges and how we pay them! When I booked they only applied to central London!

We are about to head out for something to eat, there seems to be plenty to chose from as we are on a fairly busy High Street and we are very close to the station for our journey tomorrow.

Happy weekend everyone

There was lots to see at Wisley and hopefully tomorrow too so I will do a Flickr link when we get home.
