Goosander
This, and another, female goosander were on a small pond by the Peedie Sea in Kirkwall. I don't know what kind of fish it has caught but I was surprised that the fish had managed to elude capture to grow to this size. It was a real struggle for the bird to swallow. Extra shows it finally succeeding. Goosanders, mergansers, smew are all fish-eating ducks often called 'sawbills' because of the serrations on the bill that helps grip prey. You can see them on the bird in the image.
