Girl Without a Pearl Earring
“… knitting is a transformative and intriguing act that can change the life and brain of the person doing it, and that knitting is a perfect metaphor for life and insight into some better ways through it.”
Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
Sadly, L is leaving us today to continue her travels towards London then onwards to home in Zurich. We make the most of our time with her and take her across to Bristol; more boys toys for me with a visit to the S.S.Great Britain, lovingly restored and sitting proudly in a dry dock. So much to see and fortunately the tickets are valid for 1 year, so we don’t have to rush it all at once.
A short walk takes us to Banksy’s ‘Girl With a Pierced Eardrum’ (a take on Vermeers Girl With a Pearl Earring) and Coffee Club for a latte and cake, awesome. While I was checking out the harbour tours I noticed this young woman sitting nearby and grabbed a quick shot of her, intent on her knitting in the afternoon sun. A passing guide from the Bristol Packet Boat Trips offered to pose (topless extra), I politely declined. Said our goodbye’s and left L to explore Bristol while we headed home to relax and unwind after a busy week.
